Daniel Gortovlyuk is a 13-year-old drummer from Nuremberg, representing a new generation of talented drummers. He began playing percussion instruments at the age of three under the guidance of his father, a professional drummer with a conservatory education.
From an early age, Daniel showed a special interest in percussion instruments. He was inspired by the rhythmic rhythms of drumming and the skill of drummers such as: Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colaiuta, Aaron Spears, Eric Moore, Benny Greb, Chris Coleman, Jay Kalo, Larnell Lewis, and Thomas Pridgen all had a profound influence on Daniel’s musical development, which subsequently shaped his creative path as a drummer.
Today, Daniel confidently plays gospel, fusion, funk, and modern drumming, combining high technical skill and musical maturity. He displays a vibrant individuality on the drums and participates in several musical projects and the school symphony orchestra.
In 2026, he was a finalist in the prestigious international Zildjian Young Drummer of the Year D-A-CH competition, which brings together the best young drummers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. He won the competition. He gained considerable experience after performing, made good friends with some of the finalists, and is on friendly terms with all the finalists for the Zildjian Young Drummer of the Year D-A-CH 2026. Daniel is constantly improving his drumming skills, preparing and recording new concert programs annually, and also recording drumming videos in the studio.
Participation in the Europe Drum Show 2027 will be a significant milestone in his professional development, opening up the opportunity to present his art to an international audience, expanding his creative network, and gaining new experience interacting with leading musicians and representatives of the global drum industry.
For over two decades, Young Drummer of the Year has been a launchpad for the next generation of drumming talent. Founded in 2002 by MIke Dolbear, the competition was created to give drummers aged 16 and under a stage to showcase their skills at both a national and international level. What started as a small contest quickly grew into a highly respected event, attracting top young players and shaping the early careers of many drummers.
Since teaming up with Zildjian the event is now a Global event with finals now in the USA, UK and DACH with more being added for 2027.
