Eric Moore (born 1982 in Stockton, California) is an American drummer, producer, educator and entrepreneur widely recognised for his explosive technique, deep groove and highly influential presence in modern drumming culture. Over the past two decades, he has built a reputation as one of the most technically gifted
drummers of his generation, blending gospel-inspired feel with remarkable speed, precision and musical versatility.

Moore grew up in a musical environment and began playing drums at a very young age. His father was a church organist, and Moore frequently accompanied him during services, gaining early experience performing in a gospel setting. By the age of four, he was already experimenting with rhythm, and throughout his childhood, he continued developing his skills through church music, school bands and formal study of musical notation and rudiments.

A decisive moment in Moore’s early career came in 2003 when he won the prestigious GUITAR CENTER DRUM-OFF, one of the most important drumming competitions in the United States. The victory brought him national attention and opened the door to a professional touring career. Soon afterwards, he began performing with major artists, including R&B singer Bobby Brown and the legendary funk group SLY & THE FAMILY STONE, gaining valuable experience on international stages.

During the following years Moore expanded his musical range even further. He became known in rock and metal circles through collaborations with bands such as SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, INFECTIOUS GROOVES, and the progressive fusion project T.R.A.M. His ability to combine powerful groove playing with astonishing technical chops made him a sought-after drummer across multiple genres.

Beyond touring and recording, Moore has played a significant role in modern drumming education. He became a prominent figure in the GOSPEL CHOPS MOVEMENT, a community of drummers known for their virtuosic style rooted in gospel music. Through drum clinics, instructional DVDs such as THE ERIC MOORE EXPERIENCE, and widely viewed online performances, he has inspired a global generation of drummers. His videos and social media presence helped shape the era of “viral drumming”, showcasing both musicality and technical mastery.

Moore has also developed entrepreneurial projects connected to the drumming community, including educational platforms, drum events and drummer-focused businesses. These initiatives reflect his ongoing commitment not only to performing but also to mentoring and supporting emerging musicians.

In early 2026, Moore began a new chapter in his career by joining GRETSCH DRUMS as an official artist. The move reflected both a professional transition and a personal ambition, as Moore described playing Gretsch as a “dream come true” and praised the brand’s distinctive tone and heritage.

Today, Eric Moore continues to tour internationally, perform at drum festivals and clinics, and produce educational content while remaining one of the most influential drummers in contemporary music. Known for his remarkable speed, expressive groove and dedication to teaching, he remains a key figure in shaping
modern drumming culture.
