Claus Hessler, an undisputed master of the Moeller Technique and an authority in drumming, continues to carry forward this ever-present drumming philosophy named after Sanford Moeller. As a master student of Jim Chapin and Dom Famularo, his reputation as a source of the Moeller Technique is unquestionable.

Claus is also well-known for his open-handed style, coaching and inspiring drummers like Daniel Adair (Nickelback), Anika Nilles (Jeff Beck), Johnny Rabb, Philo Tsoungui (Mars Volta), and David Garibaldi (Tower of Power), among others. He has performed at drum events in over 40 countries, sharing the stage with renowned musicians such as Steve Smith, Alex Acuna, his mentor Dom Famularo, Virgil Donati, Thomas Lang, JoJo Mayer, Luis Conte and many more – earning standing ovations at prestigious events like PASIC or Berklee College of Music.

Claus’ educational releases, which feature endorsements from legends like Steve Gadd, Vic Firth, or John Beck, have gained worldwide recognition and received multiple nominations for “Best Educational Book.” In fact, Claus himself has been nominated as the “Best Educator/Clinician” by Modern Drummer Magazine. His individual style is characterised by an impressive display of technical skills, ostinato work, a wide range of musical styles, and open-handed playing, seamlessly bridging the gap between “just drums” and real-world musical applications. Aside from his work with his hammond organ trio, “Flux”, Claus has collaborated live and in the studio with international artists ranging from Mike Stern to the New York Voices.
